A Little About Me Personally
I have lived in Bridgnorth for over 30 years working with students both locally and online across the UK.
I’m married to Heidi, and we have two grown-up children, Ben and Vicky, along with a lovely Border Collie called Betsy who never stops running!
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy walking, riding my motorbike and playing squash.

Why I Chose Tutoring
While I’ve enjoyed teaching in schools, I discovered that my real passion lies in one-to-one and small group tuition.
Working with students like this allows me to focus entirely on their needs - spotting and addressing gaps in understanding, adapting my explanations, and helping them experience those “lightbulb moments” that can make learning maths so rewarding.
Tutoring also lets me build strong relationships with students, giving them the confidence to ask questions and think independently. I find it incredibly satisfying to see their progress week by week.
Me as a teacher ...
My Teaching Philosophy
Maths can feel challenging, but I believe every student can succeed when they’re given the right support, encouragement, and clarity.
My approach combines:
Diagnostic teaching - identifying what’s missing or misunderstood
Confidence-building - making maths feel achievable and even enjoyable
Structured support - guiding students steadily towards exam success
I create a calm, encouraging atmosphere where students feel safe to make mistakes and learn from them.
My goal is always the same: to help each learner become the most confident mathematician they can be.
